To facilitate this process, RA MOUNT has leased six cashew processing facilities in Kerala State, India, where there is an abundance of skilled labor. The company has the necessary infrastructure and a well-established management team in place to handle imports, processing, exports, and trading on a timely basis. Also Ra Mount will import processed cashew kernels from India and Vietnam exports it to US and various European Countries. Precom HK Limited known as Precom, incorporated in Hong Kong is the associate company of Ra Mount, Singapore & Ra Mount General L.L.C., Dubai operating under the same management. Precom HK Limited manages the entire procurement activities. The procurement season starts from January and ends in June in West Africa, and in East Africa Season starts from June and ends on January. Precom HK deals in import of raw cashew nuts and distributes processed cashew kernels in India, China and other southeast Asian countries.

The cashew tree (Anacardium Occidentale) is a tropical evergreen native to the Americas but is now widely cultivated in Asia and Africa. It is a short, stocky, low-spreading, evergreen tropical tree. Four centuries ago, the adventurous Portuguese sailed down the Indian coasts and brought with them this valuable tree nut, “Cashew,” the favorite nut of the world. Cashew came, conquered, and took deep roots in the entire coastal region of India. Cashew found the Indian soil more homely than its homeland and later spread as a popular crop to other parts of India. The seed is found in the lower portion of the cashew apple. Cashew, in its natural form, is a soft, white, meaty kernel covered by a testa membrane contained within the thick, hard, outer shells of kidney-shaped seeds that protect the tasty kernel from the ravages of nature until it is processed. India is the largest grower, processor, and exporter of cashews in the world. It’s interesting to note that new statistics on consumer interests from 2009 have shown that India is also the number one consumer of cashew kernels in the world, surpassing the USA. Cashew kernels are consumed all over the world as a premium snack and are increasingly used as a preferred ingredient due to their excellent flavor and unique texture in a wide range of foods such as sweets, dates, ice creams, and more. They can be dry or oil roasted, salted, coated with chocolate, spices, honey, etc.
Selection and storage
Cashew nuts are available in the market year-round. In stores, only shelled cashew kernels are sold since the shell contains a phenolic resin called urushiol, which is a potent skin irritant toxin. When purchasing, look for shelled nuts that are bright, cream-white, compact, uniform, and feel heavy in hand. They should be free from cracks, mold, spots, and a rancid smell. At home, store cashew kernels in an airtight container and keep them in the refrigerator to prevent them from turning rancid. Under ideal conditions, fresh nuts should last for 5-6 months.
